To Build A Home Recording Studio Under $1000 can be confusing if you do not know exactly what to look for.

There are 4 main components to building your home recording studio. (Not including accessories)

I am assuming that you have a relatively powerful computer. It doesn’t matter whether you use a PC or a Mac.  You can get great performances from both.

Audio Interface

The audio interface is one of the most important pieces of equipment you will get.  The audio interface connects to your computer through either

  • USB
  • Firewire
  • Thunderbolt

The audio interface will have at minimum, microphone input, and 1/4 inch inputs for recording external devices.

I recommend an audio interface that is easy to hook up and get working like this Focusrite Scarlett 2I2.

This audio interface comes with 2 microphone inputs so you and your friend can record together.

The Focusrite Scarlett audio interface allows you to record an instrument or microphone into a software program of your choice.

BONUS This audio interface comes with recording software Protools to get you started right away. The Protools software is their basic version.

If you need to upgrade the software you can at anytime.  This package cost $159.99

Condenser Microphone

Next you want to look for a condenser microphone, A good condenser microphone will help you get the crystal clear vocals you're looking for.

Make sure you also get a good quality microphone cable. I recommend the Rode NT1A.

This condenser microphone comes with a microphone cable and a pop filter.

The purpose of the pop filter is to tame plosive sounds that begin with the letter S & P.

You will also need a good microphone stand. I recommend a boom microphone stand like this one.

These are more flexible than your regular straight up and down stand. $215

Another accessory you should get to go in your studio is a reflextion filter for your microphone stand.

A reflexion filter is like having a mini vocal booth in your studio.  The reflextion filter helps prevent sound waves from bouncing all around the room.

This is what the reflextion Filter looks like below.  Click the picture and you will be re-directed to Amazon's website.

Powered Monitor Speakers

In order to hear everything coming out your computer, you will need a pair of powered monitor speakers.

All you will need is a set of dual 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch cables.  They will connect from the output of your audio interface to the input of the powered monitor speakers

I like the Yamaha HS series of powered monitors.  I own a pair Yamaha HS8 myself.

Get yourself a pair of Yamaha HS5 Powered monitor speakers

The Yamaha HS5's come with the cables to connect to your audio interface and a pair of powered monitor stands.

Studio Headphones

The next piece of equipment you should get for your studio is a pair of headphones.

A good pair of headphones will help you get a good mix and master on your songs.

These headphones are only $69 and are very good quality. These headphones will plug into the front of your audio interface.

Conclusion

These are all the components you need to build a Home Recording Studio Under $1000.

You can save your self a trip to your local dealer and buy your new recording studio from Amazon.
